Deceased Name: Melvin Frederick Looney
A private service was held for Melvin Frederick Looney, who died April 7, 1999, at age 83.
Mr. Looney was born July 28, 1915, in Rickreall. He lived most of his life in Molalla until moving to Gladstone 12 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked in the logging and construction industries until retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church. He married Emily in 1938; she died in 1983. He married Lillian in 1987; she died in 1998.
Survivors include his son, Lonnie of Grants Pass; daughter, Diana West of Castle Rock, Wash.; brothers, Nat of Sweet Home and Ray of Castle Rock; sisters, Odeane Thelander of Molalla, Eileen Harvey of Vici, Okla., Lavera Timmons of Cave Junction; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Willamette National Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Lovejoy Hospice in Grants Pass. Arrangements are by Cochran & Waud Sunset Chapel.
